this sampler is terrible, and I’d be surprised if the album is any better.

Gim is telling us to support. But honestly, it’s these type of albums that are ruining hip hop (among other things).

These cats are washed the fuck up. I don’t know how you can listen to this and say “this is dope.” Amateurish, bland beats (where’s PR signature hi-hat?!) with bland braggadocio rhymes and flows.

It’s like I can’t win with this hip hop shit. Either the old guys are steady making weak product and/or the new cats are just making pop garbage and trying to tell me it’s hip hop.

I just don’t know what to say. The only reason we even gave a fuck about this project is because we love Dah Shinin and the tons of classic PR beats. Which means we were hoping to get that. So give the fans what they want. Not some bland non-PR sounding crapola.

  • Comment from Confidence

yeah man, this joint really isn’t all that unfortunately. i really think the beatminerz should have been the one to bring back smif-n-wessun. Da Shinin was one of the best albums of the 90’s. pete rock’s style doesn’t even really mesh with them and the beats are a bit bland. no real ill production, samples, etc.

i was really hoping for something better but it’s time to pass the torch to the new school while still keeping the 90’s fresh with those artists who weren’t able to shine back then…peace

  • Comment from dj tsura

Delusion…Pete Rock lost the magic touch.

  • Comment from DJ Guttah

    Wow. I’m really disappointed.

It doesn’t look like I’m going to buy this album. And that’s a REALLY bad sign. Pete Rock seems like he lost his touch years ago.

It seems like ever since he started using the MPC, his beats just got more and more bland. I think it’s time to move on from Pete Rock.

I don’t see why everyone loves this album. This will receive nothing but a thumbs down for me. Average is not good enough.

  • Comment from Tha N

Sampler is bland. Other than That’s Hard there’s no bangers here.

Leaves me wondering if the PR vs Premo album is going to disappoint too

  • Comment from Curtis75Black

I’m hoping to GOD its just the sampler thats wack !! This don’t sound hot at all.

  • Comment from Maurio

This album is crazy!!…i need it!!

  • Comment from asiko

it’s hard to pass judgement after only hearing short snippets. to me it sounds like solid work. just leaves me wondering ” where are pete’s signature horns”? haha.. c’mon dudes, it’s 2011, things done change, get with the program.
