DJ Premier Set on Scratchvision.com

I ripped the whole free show with DJ Premier for y’all but it wasn’t easy considering the output quality isn’t direct from his mixer. But whatever, he played some exclusive Pete Rock, NYGz and a beat from “Beats That Collected Dust Vol. 2”. So he didn’t forget about that project. DJ Premier also told us he finished the song “Project Boy” for Joell Ortiz upcoming album “Free Agent” who got a (hopefully) final release date of 23th of february. Also like I said thousand of times, I highly doubt there is going to be a Preem track on Snoop Dogg‘s next LP. If you believe his leaked ‘tracklist’ then this should be produced by DJ Premier… Oh yeah, and Panchi said the new NYGz album is still coming this year. I like him. Now try to enjoy the world of Ustream and LiveStream together with Premoooo:

DJ Premier – Here We Go Haa

R.I.P. Mr. Magic Tribute Mix

DJ Premier had to do it again, it’s terrible! Your favorite rapper got to be a fan of Mr. Magic, making the hip hop radio scene since 1984! Mentioned in well known songs by 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas and in Preems produced song “Bang This” by Blaq Poet. For me he is well known by hosting the radio show “Wildstyle Pirate Radio” in the computer game GTA: Vice City. Big respect to Rockstar. The mix includes the beef between Mr. Magic and Public Enemy, excludes the beef with KRS-One with the song “Outta Here (Mr. Magic Diss Version)“, enjoy:

Btw, very nice intro tribute from DJ Premier with a unique Preem beat!

R.I.P. Grandmaster Roc Raida Tribute Mix

As we all know about Roc Raida‘s tragic passing last week, I could only do a tribute on my blog to honor him as a fan. Last night DJ Premier did his part. As a friend and as a pioneer. Of course I couldn’t let the people in the dark by not premiering it, so here we have another exclusive on the internet. Premo did his thing and remember this is for free, do not try to bootleg it for cash. I still got the MJ Tribute in the back of my head. Have fun and salute Grandmaster Roc Raida with DJ Premier and Panchi in the next hour, hip hop is life:

Ooooo man, THIS IS DOPE!!! The first Roc Raida produced song is too good.

Rare DJ Premier Radio Appearances ’98

As a fan of hip hop I have listened to many DJ Premier productions and seen some of his interviews, from reviewing both I think the voice and feel of the music he makes matches the beliefs he stands by in spoken word. His work is inspirational in the importance of discovering and embracing underground hip hop first, because it’s where the true essence of the music, talent and artform is born from. Part of the legacy of Gangstarr to me is their career example of how to stand by your beliefs in life and build upon them towards your own success and freedom of voice, no matter what obstacle or odds may exist that threaten to knock you off your path. I imagine it was no easy process to release consecutive classics on commercial labels the way they did, with albums speaking in rebellion against record companies and the corporate machine that threatens hip hop culture.

Premier has and continues to release gems independently, also bless the radio airwaves with quality material, here are a few I’ve listened to recently. This first one was a visit by him up at Stretch & Bobbito’s show a few months before Moment of Truth was released, Premier was filling in for Stretch on this episode. I remember ’98 as a period of great production output by Premier and a time when independent hip hop releases and artist careers were emerging against the mainstream hip hop machine. I still go back and find songs from this era I like from many unheard-of artists.

Killah Priest stops by to promote his Heavy Mental album and kicks some rhymes for Bobbito, Premier runs through some quality underground hip hop cuts of ’98, such as Neek The Exotic’s “Exotic is Raw”, Tame One and Fatal Hussein’s “Everyday”, N.O.T.S. Click featuring Big L “Work Is Never Done” and a world premiere of “New York Straight Talk”. If you manage to find radio sets by Premier or Pete Rock from this period online, expect to hear quality material spun by them every time.

Premo without the Rapper Mix

I don’t really know how to name it, but I made for a lazy sunday a 50minutes(!) mix of all the stuff that DJ Premier used for his intro’s, skits, interludes, … on all sort of albums and tapes. From the days of cassettes to the compact discs. And sadly, some of his intro beats are too hot for an intro YESSIR! Like that intro of “Time 4 Change“, I NEED THAT INSTRUMENTAL!! Or that intro of “Holiday Hell“, pffffff, crazy!! I’m wondering if Premier is reading this, if so. Maybe he got the message? Lol. DJ Premier is the best, once again gimantalon comes with the prove. The only beats that are excluded are the LiveFromHQ skits and intro, now it’s time to reminisce, Preem all dayyyyy:

Gimantalon – Premo without the Rapper Mix

(Sorry, don’t have a tracklist (50+ tracks))

And lets go to the next mixtape, maybe BTCD Vol. II?

Michael Jackson Tribute Mix by DJ Premier

Last night Premo did a tribute mix for Michael Jackson, who died two days ago. Remember the best of him, wherever he is. He can now live in peace!

Next week DJ Eclipse is going to fill in because DJ Premier is going to Spain with Termanology, Blaq Poet, Big Shug and I think some other people. And Panchi is again funny as hell haha.

EDIT: You can find the tracklist here.

Gang Starr – Moment Of Truth Sampler Tape

Here’s the sampler promo tape of “Moment of Truth“. You won’t see any unreleased cuts that didn’t make the album on there but the great thing about it is that you hear DJ Premier & Guru talking and presenting in-between each tracks.

  2. You Know My Steez
  3. Royalty
  4. Work
  5. What I’m Here

DJ Premier & Blaq Poet Live Set

Now we all know DJ Premier and Blaq Poet are touring I thought it would be appropriate to release this live set of them two together last year in Vienna, Austria. The audio comes straight from Preems turntables and Poets mic. It was recorded the 10th of may. When “Tha Blaqprint” wasn’t expected yet. I was also informed that the Teflon album is still worked on, he did a new joint with Premo featuring Saigon & Papoose. Enjoy the short live set:

DJ Premier Set on the The Halftime Show

WNYU‘s long-running rap broadcast “The Halftime Show” celebrates its eleventh anniversary tonight: unlike the emcee extravaganza last year host with the most DJ Eclipse will be joined by DJs only, specifically DJ Premier, Evil Dee & Mr Walt, A-Trak, Tony Touch and JS-1. Here you have Preems part, enjoy:

DJ Premier – 5 Deadly Venoms of Brooklyn 1997

It’s very strange that it’s very quiet around DJ Premier while his label is going to release a major album for a legendary artist “Tha Blaqprint“… So I decided to upload a new mixtape, this one is also more then ten years old. He didn’t do the full mixtape, it’s a mixtape where 5 DJ’s mixed there part. I will only share Premo’s part, other DJ’s where: P.F. Cuttin’, Mister Cee, Tony Touch and Evil Dee. I noticed Preem is the only DJ who mixed old skool on this tape, like the OST of “Wild Style” wich I still spin. I hope you like it, not so easy to find nowadays! Here you have the tracklist:

  1. Grandwizard Theodore & Kenny-Kev Rockwell – Military Cut (1982)
  2. Busy Bee vs Kool Moe Dee – Live at The Harlem World (1981)
  3. Double Trouble – Live At The Amphitheater L.E.S. (1982)
  4. Cold Crush – It’s Us (Live 1982)
  5. T La Rock – It’s Yours (1984)
  6. LL Cool J – I Need A Beat (Jazzy Mix 1984)
  7. Malcolm McLaren & World Famous Supreme Team – Buffalo Gals (1983)
  8. MC Lyte – I Cram To Understand (1986)
  9. Divine Force Crew – Holy War (1987)
