Adam Michael Goldstein (March 30, 1973 – August 28, 2009) was an American club disc jockey better known as DJ AM. Goldstein was a former member of the rock band Crazy Town, and scratched on albums for Papa Roach, Madonna, and Will Smith, among others. He collaborated with Travis Barker of Blink-182 at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and has appeared in several television series.

On September 19, 2008, Goldstein was seriously injured when a Learjet he was traveling in crashed on takeoff. Singer Mandy Moore, with whom he was close, flew to be by his side at the Georgia hospital where he was staying.

Goldstein was found dead at his New York City apartment at around 5:20 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2009.

Sputnik, the Brooklyn based eatery and nightclub, announced through its events department that it will host an entire weekend of live music and entertainment over the upcoming Labor Day weekend. The event, billed as “A Labor Day Weekend Explosion,” will consist of two live music shows at the venue, with the first taking place on Friday, September 4th 2009. Among the artists scheduled to appear are (Rapper/Actress) MC Lyte on Friday, and (Rapper) Talib Kweli on the second night, Saturday, September 5th 2009.

Sputnik (www.barsputnik.com) was started by a group of friends in 2003, and recently called “a haven for independent musicians and artists of all types since opening its doors…” by an online reviewer at events.NBCnewyork.com.

“We know that people typically bolt out of town during the Labor Day Weekend. But we also know, especially given the state of the economy, that many will be stuck in town looking for something to do. We’re excited to be able give music fans affordable options for a live show during the holiday weekend,” said event organizer, Vic Black. Other notable talent confirmed to appear includes Hip-hop pioneer Deejay, DJ Premier (GangStarr), and Chicago native, DJ Reborn (MTV/Studio Museum in Harlem).

Advance tickets for the shows are on sale now at BrownPaperTickets.com for eighteen dollars ($18), and at Sputnik, located at 262 Taaffe Place, Brooklyn NY 11205. Billy Danze of M.O.P. works on a debut album. While the other half of M.O.P. Lil Fame already has a lot of work as a solo artist, Billy Danze is getting ready for his debut album as a solo artist. Danze, who has released several solo tracks online, is much closer to the release of his own solo project, he says.

“It’s been working, I been getting a lot of good feedback,” he explains. “I got Alchemist on the production, Lil Fame, my man Tommy T. DJ Premier’s gonna slide me some shit in a minute. It ain’t all the way done yet, I’m about halfway done, working on all the features.”

Also, expect a list of producers set to impress many M.O.P. fans, including work from DJ Premier. Probably with one track.

“We got Statik Selektah. We got me, I’m doing some production. We got DR Period. We also got DJ Premier.” Of Premier, he added that it was a wonderful experience to link back up with the fellow New York vet. “It’s beautiful, man. We tried to get some more from him but we didn’t have time.”
