Best DJ Premier Beat in 2008

First of all, happy new year to everyone in the game! Lets see how much Obama can Change in his first year and specially, lets looking forward to new DJ Premier productions: Blaq Poet, NYGz, Nick Javas, Khaleel, Christina Aguilera, Q Da Kid, CNN, …

In the past 20 days the real Preem fans could vote for their best beat in 2008. It was a long time very very close for the second place, and till the last hour (!) it was too close for the fourth place with only one vote difference! And the winnar is with a total of more then it double of the runner up -no shit-:

Grey Hairs” was far one of the best -how do i say this- slept on albums of this year, Statik Selektah has proven in 2008 that he is a stayer on production level. He really putting it down like hell! “Say Goodnight” is using again a soundtrack as sample, it’s from a French movie. DJ Premier and Reks are a perfect collabo, Reks is H-A-R-D. He won with 30%.

The Rank:

1. Reks – Say Goodnight (111, 30%)
2. Ludacris – MVP (53, 14%)
3. Fat Joe – That White (45, 12%)
4. Blaq Poet – Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed (42, 11%)
5. Big Shug – My Boston (41, 11%)
6. Termanology – How We Rock (31, 8%)
7. Ill Bill – Society is Brainwashed (23, 6%)
8. House of Repz – U Gotta Love Us (13, 3%)
Total of 359 votes.

I would like to thank everyone for their vote, thanks to you guys we have some image!! And stay tuned because this saturday DJ Premier will tell us his own top 20 best albums of 2008. Stay tuned…

D.I.T.C. – Where You At (Remix)

I noticed some people don’t know this track that used this sample so thank god I have the LP! Note that the rip is not mine! I don’t blame you if you don’t know the track because it’s only released official on vinyl. I’ve heard some story, but I really don’t know if it’s true so don’t shoot me. It looks right because I never saw an official print on vinyl of D.I.T.C.‘s selftitled debut album. Ok, now you can follow me; This track is from an exclusive vinyl album by D.I.T.C. called “The Official Version“, it was an album with only remixes on it of D.I.T.C. tracks. The reason why they released it (only on vinyl) was because their debut selftitled album “D.I.T.C.” was released in the same year but not on double vinyl, their were some legal issue’s because that album was already fully released on 12inch singles trough the years. So they couldn’t release it on vinyl anymore (very wierd), then D.I.T.C. say we will release a double vinyl with remixes so vinyl fans have something. And actually I didn’t found any official press on vinyl of D.I.T.C.’s debut album, only promo copies.

If someone got more info he can always contact me, because I don’t have any reliable source. Enjoy this hard ass remix done by DJ Premier with Big Punisher and Milano as guests:

DJ Premier Blog One Month Old!!

Yes, I started this blog one month ago! Tryin’ to reach the Preem fan and keep him up te date with a blog that is alive. This month I have send this blog probably one message a day if it isn’t more but we all know that won’t stay for ever. But I will still try though! First I wanted to know how DJ Premier felt about this blog, it’s no fun to start a fan blog if the artist is pitty about it. But yesterday I got the answer, he was impressed. Well, a reason more to stay kicking! Second I wanted to know if this blog got visitors, well, believe me, it has. I’m happy I reached eventually more people then I tought, I reached this month 4915 unique people.

The peronal reason I started this blog (that I always wanted to do) is because it was learning vacation here in Belgium, but my technique is learn non stop one/two weeks before it exam and then you will have the same result. So I had much spare time! That was the same period 3 years ago when I put the DJ Premier Trackology online.

Here are some statics about this first month:(Click on the picture for better quality…)
(The second picture is more important for me)
(289 people average/day)

I would like to thank everybody who visit my site, may the lord bless your soul and don’t worry, this site will be alive. And also special thanks to the people who gave me encourage and props. I don’t forget that! And to Crackdaddy who still give me the free space on his domain! This year was a good Preem year, is it fair to say better then 2007? Don’t know… But my opion is that Preem isn’t felled of at all, every artist changed in a way and my ears still does it for him. Now lets go to 2009 and see what it takes, but I’m going to ask this one question to the lord: are we going to see Pros N Cons?

Peace…!

X-Mas Party in Houston

Out the other night with Styles and Premo. Incase you did’nt know, Premo is from Houston. So we all hang around the holidays. Just a quick bit of History……(i’ll try to keep this short and write the full details later) Dj Styles is some what responsible for Dj Premier being Dj Premier. The story goes like this. Carlos(Dj Styles) worked at a music store called Soundwaves in the 80’s . He got Premier a job there. Carlos sent Premier’s demo tape to Stu Fine at Wild Pitch around 88′. Stu Liked what he heard and told Carlos he wanted to bring Premier up to meet an mc from Boston that was on the label and that needed a dj. Now according to Carlos(Dj Styles), Premier really did’nt want to go but Carlos made it go down. Well we know now that mc was Guru and the rest is history.
