Both leaked in 2004.

Nuttin’ new this week, I hoped he would play Get It In by Blaq Poet, but still no new tracks. He played again that Flipsyde beat!! I have a feeling the beat will be on Beats That Collected Dust Vol. 2! If it will ever come out. Here can you listen to this beat one more time:

50 Cent beat goes to NYGz

DJ Premier recently revealed to New York radio personality Peter Rosenberg that he made a track for 50 Cent that was turned down. XXLmag.com chopped it up with the beat making legend to get the inside scoop on what happened with the song and how it would have been the perfect vehicle for Fif to push the reset button on his career.

Apparently Preemo submitted the song for 50’s upcoming album Before I Self Destruct. And as he tells it, this would have been the G-Unit leader’s perfect re-introduction to hip-hop audiences as a hardcore rapper.

“I use[d] his voice from “Guess Who’s Back” – ‘You’re now rocking with 50 Cent. Are you ready? I said are you ready,’ he described to XXL. “You know how he says that, with that like cocky attitude? I used that and scratching in the beginning with like this real mellow beat and the drums are smacking. It’s like setting it up like ‘Yo I’m back on my grizzly shit. I’m about to come rough.’”

Premier, who has worked with most of New York’s most influential artists, including The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z and Nas, said the track wasn’t one of his greatest but it would have worked in 50’s favor. “It’s not like the illest beat I ever done but the fact that he wants to bring it back to the pure essence, I definitely know how to make sure that we’re on the right track for a street record. “

While he says that Curtis would have sounded amazing over the beat, he’s not upset that the song was turned down. “Bringing that old voice back is almost like if he hit the reset button. So I could totally hear 50 killing that song…I’m not mad though. Fif’s my dude.”

Even though you won’t be hearing the track on 50’s new album, Preemo said the beat didn’t end up on the cutting room floor. He gave it to the NYGz, who are signed to his Year Round imprint, for a song called “Ready?”

Too bad, I would love to hear 50 Cent on Premo beat. Reminds me how nice he sounded when he was at Columbia. Get ready for NYGz!

DJ Premier on Q Da Kid’s Debut Album

LiveFromHQ 20/12/2008

Last night DJ Premier said on his radio show that he went yesterday in the studio with Q Da Kid to record a song. Q Da Kid is actually a new MC in the game. He is from Brooklyn and is recently signed to Def Jam. The record will be on his debut album that is coming in 2009. So get ready!

Next: DJ Premier is going to work also on the next UGK album with Bun B and Pimp C (RIP), the song isn’t recorded yet so nothing is sure as you know!

Also no guests tonight, DJ Premier and his team only, Big Shug on the phone once again. Next week Preem will be in Texas for the holidays so it will be again a pre taped show. I hope he brings some new shit!

Now about Blaq Poet, about Blaq Poet… The album is delayed once again. Sorry folks… It’s now ready to release in February! The video for “Ain’t Nuttin’ Changed” will drop in 2/3 weeks and will be edited tomorrow so that will be dope.

DJ Premier started the show with a story about him going to texas last week to see AC/DC. He is a big fan of AC/DC just like his sister. To get to the point, Preem weights 114 kg. Now we all know lol, the question is solved! Because they hadn’t any T-Shirts left excepts three larges… He was funny about it.

Now a smaller sidenote for the sample heads, Lord Finesse’s “Keep The Crowd Listening (DJ Premier Remix)” doesn’t has any samples, he did all the instrumentals himself. And that track is dope as hell, Preem did it! Listen:

Now I said everything, peace homies!!

LiveFromHQ 13/12/08

I wanted to let you know there wasn’t anything new last night on LiveFromHQ. There wasn’t any talk between tracks because Preem couldn’t do a live show for any reason. It was a pre programmed show to make us happy. He did play a song with Guru on it, that song from Lil Dap‘s album. Hope we hear Premo next week again…

In 21 days the year 2008 will be over, so I think it will be dope if y’all vote for the best Premo beat in 2008! Total: 27

The list of tracks for the vote contains eight tracks (!!) and there won’t be any rnb track in it, I’m sorry. Just to focus on tha real… hip hop. I’m actual curious to know the results so I thank you for wasting your time on this! May God bless you, peace to earth!!

And please don’t cry if your favourite track isn’t nominated (you can always skip simple things in life).

Another small thing, the Vivid track is NOT produced by DJ Premier! The scratches are done by DJ Cazz and seriously, ever saw a Preem track where he didn’t do the cuts?! Plus, you can hear in a sec that isn’t the man. And the RA The MC track “Anything You Liked” is a recycled beat, she jacked it from the “Beats That Collected Dust” LP… Sorry!

House of Repz have shot a video clip for their track “You Gotta Love This”, but where is the video for Royce‘s new single that is recorded months ago…

DJ Premier: “He Didn’t Just Sit There and Sulk”

“I used to see Arty perform — he reminded me of Method Man because he would just yank his hat off and be all over the place and his hair would be some crazy hair do,” Premo told SOHH. “He would act like he was having a tantrum on stage and he was just so animated, it went with his rhyme style. So I was always a fan of his.”

After allowing Arty’s rap associate Showbiz to rent out a room at his studio, the producer developed a close relationship with the crew and noticed Arty’s health conditions gradually worsen.

“I saw him when he was sick, and you know, we didn’t really get too deep into discussion, but I knew he wasn’t doing well” Premo explained.

Premo recalls the last meeting with Arty, just before going to Europe for the “Rock The Bells” tour last October. “I knew he was doing worse, I saw him right before I left, gave him a hug and, you know, told him I loved him and just kept it moving,” he added. “But I didn’t know it was so severe that he was pretty much brain dead for the last four days before he passed on December 4.”

Admitting the family felt the best decision was to pull the life support system, Premo revealed Arty’s desire to continue his legacy via hip-hop.

“One thing I like about what Arty and what J Dilla did was they put themselves to work,” he revealed. “They didn’t just sit there and sulk and cry, they went in there and worked in the studio.”

Helping carry on Arty’s memory, Premier expects to release some of the late rapper’s music in the future.

Not much to say when I was listening this night… Nothing new he said or played. 88-Keys was in the house, he has a new album so that was promoted. He played MVP and Too Strong, he also played the instrumental of MVP. But I have noticed something: while they were talking he played the instrumental of “It’s Been A Long Time Coming” by Flipsyde, now that is still an unreleased track of 2005. So he carries it with him, WHY NOT RELEASING IT?!
